Special Weather Statement issued December 2 at 3:08PM AKST by NWS Juneau AK Over the last 12 hours, since the transition from snow, over half an inch rain has fallen between Angoon and Gustavus and 1 inch in the Juneau area. Rain is expected to continue through Monday night followed by another round of heavy rain for Tuesday. 1 to 3 inches of rain is expected Monday afternoon through Tuesday night. Due to significant snow pack from the recent storm and frozen ground from recent cold temperatures, runoff will have a difficult time keeping up with this amount of rain. Expect ponding of water on roadways and for some creeks to spike up. Snow removal will become more difficult due to higher water content making the snow heavier. Boat owners should check on their vessels. Additionally, areas of compact snow will become very slippery. Please let the National Weather Service office know if you are seeing impacts from this rainfall.
