Flood Watch issued May 16 at 4:01AM CDT until May 18 at 7:00AM CDT by NWS New Orleans LA * WHAT...Flooding caused by excessive rainfall continues to be possible. * WHERE...Portions of southeast Louisiana, including the following parishes, Central Tangipahoa, East Baton Rouge, East Feliciana, Iberville, Northern Livingston, Northern Tangipahoa, Pointe Coupee, St. Helena, Washington, West Baton Rouge and West Feliciana and southern Mississippi, including the following counties, Amite, Pike, Walthall and Wilkinson. * WHEN...From this evening through Saturday morning. * IMPACTS...Excessive runoff may result in flooding of rivers, creeks, streams, and other low-lying and flood-prone locations. Flooding may occur in poor drainage and urban areas. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS... - Multiple rounds of storms will be moving through the area beginning tonight and continuing into Saturday morning. 3 to 6 inches of rainfall with locally higher amounts will be possible, enhancing the flash flooding threat. - http://www.weather.gov/safety/flood You should monitor later forecasts and be alert for possible Flood Warnings. Mississippi River At Red River Landing affecting East Baton Rouge, West Feliciana and Pointe Coupee Parishes. For the Lower Mississippi River...including Red River Landing... Minor flooding is forecast. * WHAT...Minor flooding is occurring and minor flooding is forecast. * WHERE...Mississippi River at Red River Landing. * WHEN...Until Friday, May 31. * IMPACTS...At 51.0 feet, All river islands along the reach from Red River Landing to Baton Rouge will be inundated. Recreational camps and river bottom farm land will be under water. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS... - At 7:00 PM CDT Wednesday the stage was 49.0 feet. - Bankfull stage is 46.0 feet. - Forecast...The river is expected to rise to a crest of 51.5 feet early Monday afternoon.
