Total snow accumulations between 1 to 2 feet, with up to 3 feet on the peaks. Winds gusting as high as 60 mph. * WHERE...Little Belt and Highwood Mountains. * WHEN...From noon Tuesday to midnight MDT Wednesday Night. * IMPACTS...Travel could be very difficult to impossible and tire chains may be required for some vehicles. Those in the backcountry should ensure they have appropriate knowledge and gear and may want to consider alternate plans. Widespread blowing snow will significantly reduce visibility. Strong winds could cause extensive damage to trees and power lines. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS...Visibility will likely be worst between Sluice Boxes State Park and Monarch Canyon where winds tend to be strongest. Travel should be restricted to emergencies only. If you must travel, have a winter survival kit with you. If you get stranded, stay with your vehicle. Travel could be difficult, especially for high profile vehicles. People are urged to secure loose objects that could be blown around or damaged by the wind.
