Flood Watch issued May 23 at 9:07PM CDT until May 24 at 10:00AM CDT by NWS Omaha/Valley NE * WHAT...Flooding caused by excessive rainfall continues to be possible. * WHERE...Portions of Iowa, including the following counties, Harrison, Monona, Pottawattamie and Shelby and Nebraska, including the following counties, Burt, Butler, Colfax, Cuming, Dodge, Douglas, Platte, Sarpy, Saunders and Washington. * WHEN...Through Friday morning. * IMPACTS...Excessive runoff may result in flooding of rivers, creeks, streams, and other low-lying and flood-prone locations. Flooding may occur in poor drainage and urban areas. Area creeks and streams are running high and could flood with more heavy rain. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS... - Recent heavy rainfall has led to saturated soils across the watch area. Additional rainfall overnight could lead to flash flooding in some locations. You should monitor later forecasts and be alert for possible Flood Warnings. Those living in areas prone to flooding should be prepared to take action should flooding develop.

Western Gage County in southeastern Nebraska... * Until 200 AM CDT. * At 121 AM CDT, severe thunderstorms were located along a line extending from 3 miles northeast of Gresham to 4 miles northwest of Hebron, moving east at 55 mph. HAZARD...70 mph wind gusts and quarter size hail. SOURCE...Radar indicated. IMPACT...Hail damage to vehicles is expected. Expect considerable tree damage. Wind damage is also likely to mobile homes, roofs, and outbuildings. * Locations impacted include... Southwestern Saunders County in east central Nebraska... * Until 215 AM CDT. * At 129 AM CDT, a severe thunderstorm capable of producing a tornado was located near Ulysses, or 11 miles north of Seward, moving east at 45 mph. HAZARD...Tornado. SOURCE...Radar indicated rotation. IMPACT...Flying debris will be dangerous to those caught without shelter. Mobile homes will be damaged or destroyed. Damage to roofs, windows, and vehicles will occur. Tree damage is likely. * This dangerous storm will be near... Dwight around 135 AM CDT. Valparaiso around 145 AM CDT. Other locations in the path of this tornadic thunderstorm include Ceresco and Ithaca. TAKE COVER NOW! Move to a basement or an interior room on the lowest floor of a sturdy building. Avoid windows.
