rainfall warning in effect A long episode of rain, at times heavy, is expected. Locations: Burin and southern Avalon Peninsulas. Total rainfall: 60 to 80 mm, except locally 115 mm or more in areas of heaviest rain. Time span: until Tuesday night. Remarks: Rain will continue today before easing in intensity this evening. The rain will become heavy at times overnight tonight or early Tuesday morning before tapering off Tuesday night. Rainfall rates of 10 to 15 mm per hour have been observed along parts of the south coast and are expected to continue at times today and Tuesday. ### Heavy downpours can cause flash floods and water pooling on roads. Rainfall warnings are issued when significant rainfall is expected. Please continue to monitor alerts and forecasts issued by Environment Canada.
