Flood Watch issued May 4 at 2:08PM AKDT until May 8 at 10:00AM AKDT by NWS Fairbanks AK * WHAT...Flooding caused by snowmelt continues to be possible. * WHERE...Tanana River from Salcha to Fairbanks. * WHEN...Through Wednesday morning. * IMPACTS...Excessive runoff may result in flooding of rivers, creeks, streams, and other low-lying and flood-prone locations. Creeks and streams may rise out of their banks. As of Saturday afternoon, the Tanana River at Fairbanks is near bankful, with water levels rising upstream at Big Delta. The Tanana will continue to rise with increasing temperatures; highest daily stages will be in the late afternoon/early evening and lowest daily stages in the morning. Flooding may occur from the Tanana, nearby tributaries or groundwater. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS... - High water due to snowmelt is pushing through the Tanana Basin. - Http://www.weather.gov/aprfc - If you live near or along Tanana River stay alert and be prepared to take action.
