Red Flag Warning issued June 17 at 8:41AM AKDT until June 17 at 10:00PM AKDT by NWS Fairbanks AK The National Weather Service in Fairbanks has issued a Red Flag Warning for lightning, which is in effect from noon today to 10 PM AKDT this evening. * AFFECTED AREA...Holy Cross east to McGrath and Nikolai, and North Slopes of the Western Alaska Range. * TIMING...From noon today to 10 PM AKDT this evening. * LIGHTNING ACTIVITY LEVEL...4. * WINDS...Southwest 5 to 10 mph. * HUMIDITY...As low as 30 percent. * TEMPERATURES...Highs in the lower 80s. * IMPACTS...Frequent lightning can promote a few fire starts. Hot and dry conditions may lead to rapid spread of fires. A Red Flag Warning means that conditions are occurring or will occur which could lead to the development of large and dangerous fires. It is directed toward fire agencies, and through them, to the public. Please advise the appropriate officials or fire crews in the field of this Red Flag Warning.
