West Fork Des Moines River at Estherville affecting Emmet County. * WHAT...Minor flooding is occurring and minor flooding is forecast. * WHERE...The West Fork Des Moines River at Estherville, or from the Iowa-Minnesota border...to near Wallingford. * WHEN...Until Thursday morning. * IMPACTS...At 10.0 feet, Extensive lowland flooding occurs particularly over the parkland areas near the river. At 11.0 feet, Mike Mickelson Park south of Iowa 9 is inundated. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS... - At 10:00 AM CDT Saturday the stage was 10.9 feet. - Forecast...The river is expected to fall below flood stage Wednesday evening and continue falling and remain below flood stage. - Flood stage is 10.0 feet. Turn around, don't drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood deaths occur in vehicles. Motorists should not attempt to drive around barricades or drive cars through flooded areas.
