Fire Weather Watch issued May 5 at 6:40AM MDT until May 7 at 11:00PM MDT by NWS Albuquerque NM ...RED FLAG WARNING SUNDAY FROM NOON UNTIL 10 PM FOR MUCH OF THE CENTRAL AND WESTERN PORTION OF THE FORECAST AREA DUE TO STRONG WIND AND LOW RELATIVE HUMIDITY... ...RED FLAG WARNING MONDAY FROM 10 AM UNTIL 10 PM AREAWIDE DUE TO STRONG WIND AND LOW HUMIDITY... ...FIRE WEATHER WATCH TUESDAY FROM 11 AM UNTIL 11 PM AREAWIDE DUE TO STRONG WIND AND LOW HUMIDITY... .A weather pattern conducive for large fire growth will commence today and continue through Wednesday as a broad trough develops over the western United States keeping the flow over New Mexico dry and windy. The strongest winds and critically low relative humidity values today will favor the central mountain chain and northeast highlands westward. Then, relative humidity will plummet over eastern areas as well on Monday. Strong winds on Monday will develop first over eastern areas, then linger longest over eastern areas in the evening as well. The National Weather Service in Albuquerque has issued a Red Flag Warning...which is in effect from 10 AM to 10 PM MDT Monday. A Fire Weather Watch has also been issued. This Fire Weather Watch is in effect from Tuesday morning through Tuesday evening. The Fire Weather Watch for Monday is no longer in effect. * AREA AND TIMING...Central Highlands (Zone 125) and eastern plains (Zones 104 and 126) Monday from 10 AM until 10 PM, and Tuesday from 11 AM until 11 PM. * 20 FOOT WINDS...For Monday, west 20 to 35 mph with gusts up to 50 mph. For Tuesday, southwest 20 to 35 mph with gusts up to 50 mph. * RELATIVE HUMIDITY...7 to 10 percent. * IMPACTS...Any fires that develop will likely spread rapidly. Outdoor burning is not recommended..
