In north central New Mexico, East Slopes Sangre de Cristo Mountains, Far Northwest Highlands, Jemez Mountains, Northwest Highlands and Southern Sangre de Cristo Mountains. In northeast New Mexico, Northeast Highlands. In northwest New Mexico, Chuska Mountains and Northwest Plateau. In west central New Mexico, West Central Mountains and West Central Plateau. * WHEN...Through late tonight. * IMPACTS...Excessive runoff may result in flooding of rivers, creeks, streams, and other low-lying and flood-prone locations. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS... - Heavy rainfall impacted the southern portions of the Hermits Peak-Calf Canyon wildfire burn scar Wednesday and Wednesday night with flooding already being observed yesterday. Flood Advisory issued June 20 at 5:27PM MDT until June 20 at 7:00PM MDT by NWS Albuquerque NM * WHAT...Arroyo and small stream flooding caused by excessive rainfall is expected. * WHERE...A portion of northwest New Mexico, including the following county, northeastern San Juan. * WHEN...Until 700 PM MDT. * IMPACTS...Minor flooding in low-lying and poor drainage areas. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS... - At 526 PM MDT, trained weather spotters reported heavy rain in the advisory area due to thunderstorms moving quickly northeast through Bloomfield, Farmington, and Aztec. This will cause arroyo and small stream flooding. Up to 0.5 inches of rain have fallen. - Additional rainfall amounts up to 0.25 inches are expected over the area. This additional rain will result in minor flooding. - Some locations that will experience flooding include... Farmington, Bloomfield, Aztec, Flora Vista, Cedar Hill, Turley and Upper Fruitland. - http://www.weather.gov/safety/flood Turn around, don't drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood deaths occur in vehicles. Motorists should not attempt to drive around barricades or drive cars through flooded areas.
