The greatest concern is over recent and past burn scars. * WHERE...Portions of central, north central, and northeast New Mexico, including the following areas, in central New Mexico, South Central Mountains. In north central New Mexico, East Slopes Sangre de Cristo Mountains and Southern Sangre de Cristo Mountains. In northeast New Mexico, Northeast Highlands. * WHEN...Through late tonight. * IMPACTS...Excessive runoff may result in flooding of rivers, creeks, streams, and other low-lying and flood-prone locations. Creeks and streams may rise out of their banks. Flooding may occur in poor drainage and urban areas. Low-water crossings may be flooded. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS... - Heavy rainfall is expected this afternoon through tonight over past and recent burn scars. This includes Hermits Peak Calf Canyon, Blue 2, McBride and South Fork. High rainfall rates may lead to excessive runoff, flash flooding and debris flows.
