Winds will trend stronger areawide on Saturday as an upper level trough moves through the region. Widespread critical fire weather is likely. Locally extreme fire weather conditions are possible over southeast portions of the forecast area, where wind gusts in excess of 50 mph are expected with Haines up to 6. In the wake of the upper level trough on Sunday, winds will trend weaker but remain strong enough critical fire weather conditions across the Central Highlands. The National Weather Service in Albuquerque has issued a Red Flag Warning...which is in effect from 11 AM to 9 PM MDT Saturday. The Fire Weather Watch is no longer in effect. * AREA AND TIMING...Northeast Highlands (Zone 123) 3 PM to 7 PM today and 11 AM to 9 PM Saturday. * 20 FOOT WINDS...For today, south and southwest winds 15 to 25 mph with gusts up to 35 mph. For Saturday, southwest winds 25 to 35 mph with gusts up to 50 mph. * RELATIVE HUMIDITY...Minimum values 11 to 16 percent today, and around 10 percent Saturday. * IMPACTS...Any fires that develop will likely spread rapidly. Outdoor burning is not recommended. Please advise the appropriate officials or fire crews in the field of this Red Flag Warning.
