Heat Advisory issued June 17 at 11:10AM EDT until June 21 at 8:00PM EDT by NWS Pittsburgh PA * WHAT...Heat index values of 100 to 104 expected. * WHERE...Portions of east central Ohio, northwest, southwest, and western Pennsylvania, and northern and the northern panhandle of West Virginia. * WHEN...Until 8 PM EDT Friday. * IMPACTS...Hot temperatures and high humidity may cause heat illnesses. Drink plenty of fluids, stay in an air-conditioned room, stay out of the sun, and check up on relatives and neighbors. Take extra precautions when outside. Wear lightweight and loose fitting clothing. Try to limit strenuous activities to early morning or evening. Take action when you see symptoms of heat exhaustion and heat stroke. To reduce risk during outdoor work, the Occupational Safety and Health Administration recommends scheduling frequent rest breaks in shaded or air conditioned environments. Anyone overcome by heat should be moved to a cool and shaded location. Heat stroke is an emergency! Call 9 1 1.

Severe Thunderstorm Warning issued June 17 at 5:00PM EDT until June 17 at 5:30PM EDT by NWS Pittsburgh PA At 459 PM EDT, severe thunderstorms were located along a line extending from near Butler to Gibsonia to Weirton, moving east at 35 mph. HAZARD...70 mph wind gusts and quarter size hail. SOURCE...Law enforcement and the public are reporting widespread wind damage across the warned area. IMPACT...Minor hail damage to vehicles is possible. Trees snapped and uprooted. Power outages can be expected. Locations impacted include... Pittsburgh, Penn Hills, Mount Lebanon, Bethel Park, Ross Township, McCandless Township, Cranberry, Moon Township, Weirton, Butler, Franklin Park, Aliquippa, Vandergrift, Kittanning, Shaler Township, Plum, North Side Pittsburgh, Baldwin, Upper St. Clair, and Hampton Township. For your protection move to an interior room on the lowest floor of a building. This is a DANGEROUS SITUATION. These storms are producing widespread wind damage across the warned area. SEEK SHELTER NOW inside a sturdy structure and stay away from windows.
